Attukal Pongala
The Pongala Mahotsavam is the most important festival of Attukal
Bhagavathy Temple. The offering of Pongala is a special temple practice
prevalent in the southern part of Kerala and some parts of Tamilnadu. It
is a ten-day programme commencing on the Karthika star of the Malayalam
month of Makaram-Kumbham (February-March) and closing with the
sacrificial offering known as Kuruthitharpanam at night. On the ninth
day of the festival the world famous Attukal Pongala Mahotsavam takes
place.
The entire area of about 5 kilometre radius around temple with
premises of houses of people of all caste, creed and religion, open
fields, roads, commercial institutions, premises of Government offices
etc. emerges as a consecrated ground for observing Pongala rituals for
lakhs of women devotees assembling from different parts of Kerala and
outside. The ceremony is exclusively confined to women folk and the
enormous crowd, which gathers in Thiruvananthapuram on this auspicious
day is reminiscent of the Kumbhamela Festival of North India.
ആറ്റുകാൽ പൊങ്കാല
കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ പൂരം നാളിലാണ് ചരിത്രപ്രസിദ്ധമായ ആറ്റുകാൽ പൊങ്കാല. പൊങ്കാലക്ക് എട്ട് ദിവസം മുൻപ്, അതായത് കാർത്തിക നാളിൽ ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ പത്താം ദിവസമായ ഉത്രം നാളിലാണ് അവസാനിക്കുന്നത്. അന്ന് മുതൽ ആറ്റുകാലിലും പരിസരപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും വഴിയോരകലാപ്രകടനങ്ങൾ വിവിധ സംഘടനകളുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ക്ഷേത്രം ട്രസ്റ്റിന്റെ കീഴിലും വിവിധ വേദികളിൽ അരങ്ങേറുന്നു. കണ്ണകീചരിതം പാടി ദേവിയെ കാപ്പുകെട്ടി കുടിയിരുത്തുന്നു. അതോടെ ആറ്റുകാൽ ഉത്സവത്തിന് തുടക്കമാകുന്നു. അതിനു പിന്നാലെ തോറ്റം പാട്ട് തുടങ്ങുന്നു. കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരമ്മയെ എഴുന്നള്ളിച്ച് ആറ്റുകാലിൽ എത്തിക്കുന്നത് മുതൽ പാണ്ഡ്യരാജാവിന്റെ നിഗ്രഹം വരെയുള്ള ഭാഗങ്ങൾ പൊങ്കാലയ്ക്ക് മുൻപായി പാടി തീർക്കുന്നു. അതിനുശേഷമാണ് പൊങ്കാല അടുപ്പിൽ തീ കത്തിക്കുന്നത്. പൊങ്കാല നിവേദ്യം, താലപ്പൊലി, കുത്തിയോട്ടം, പുറത്തെഴുന്നള്ളത്ത്, പാടി കാപ്പഴിക്കൽ, ഗുരുതിയോട് കൂടി ആറ്റുകാലിലെ ഉത്സവം സമാപിക്കുന്നു.
The Attukal Pongala held in Attukal Temple, Thiruvananthapuram is the
largest congregation of women for a festival in the world. Pongala,
which means 'to boil over’, is the ritual in which women prepare sweet
payasam (a pudding made from rice, jaggery, coconut and plantains cooked
together) and offer it to the Goddess or ‘Bhagavathy’.
Attuakal Rituals
The ritual can
only be performed by women and the streets of the city are known to be
jam-packed with faithful devotees during the time of the festival. The
Goddess-fondly referred to as ‘Attukalamma’ is said to be appeased by
this ritual.
The entire Thiruvananthapuram city lights up in festive
fervour and the number of devotees has increased to the point that it
has been recorded in the Guinness World Book of Records. It is an
experience that is extremely unique and must be soaked in first-hand to
understand its magnificence.
The annual Ponkala festival of Attukal Bhagavathi temple here, one of
the world's biggest devotional congregations of women, has made it to
the Guinness Book of World Records.
പൊങ്കാല ഒരു ആത്മസമർപ്പണമാണ്. അതിലുപരി അനേകം പുണ്യം നേടിത്തരുന്ന ഒന്നായിട്ടാണ് പൊങ്കാല കരുതിപ്പോരുന്നത്. പൊങ്കാല അർപ്പിച്ച് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചാൽ മനസ്സിനുള്ളിലെ ആഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ സാധിച്ച് തരും എന്നുള്ള ഉറപ്പുമാണ് പൊങ്കാലയിലേക്ക് സ്ത്രീജനങ്ങളെ ആകർഷിക്കുന്നത്. പൊങ്കാലയ്ക്ക് മുൻപ് ഒരാഴ്ചയെങ്കിലും വ്രതം നോറ്റിരിക്കണം. കൂടാതെ ദിവസത്തിൽ രണ്ടുനേരം കുളിച്ച്, മൽത്സ്യം, മുട്ട, മാംസം എന്നിവ വെടിഞ്ഞ് ഒരു തികഞ്ഞ സസ്യാഹാരം മാത്രം കഴിച്ച് മനഃശുദ്ധിയോടും ശരീര ശുദ്ധിയോടും കൂടി വേണം വ്രതം എടുക്കാൻ. അതിനു പുറമെ, പൊങ്കാലയുടെ തലേ ദിവസം ഒരിക്കൽെ മാത്രമേ ആഹാരം കഴിക്കാവൂ. (ഇന്ന് അത് മാറി ഒരു നേരം മാത്രമേ അരി ആഹാരം കഴിയ്ക്കാൻ പാടൂള്ളൂ എന്നായിട്ടുണ്ട്).
പൊങ്കാലയ്ക്ക് മുൻപ് കഴിവതും ക്ഷേത്രദർശനം നടത്തുക. കാരണം പൊങ്കാല ഇടുവാൻ അനുവാദം ചോദിക്കുന്നതായിട്ടാണ് ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നത്. പൊങ്കാല അടുപ്പിന് സമീപം ഗണപതിയ്ക്ക് വയ്ക്കുക എന്ന ചടങ്ങുണ്ട്. തൂശനിലയിൽ അവിൽ, മലർ, വെറ്റില, പാക്ക്, പഴം, ശർക്കര, പൂവ്, ചന്ദനത്തിരി, നിലവിളക്ക്, നിറനാഴി, കിണ്ടിയിൽ വെള്ളം എന്നിവ വയ്ക്കണം. പുതിയ മൺകലത്തിലാണ് പൊങ്കാല ഇടേണ്ടത്. ഇത് കൊണ്ട് അർത്ഥമാക്കുന്നത്; പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിൻറെ പ്രതീകമായ മൺകലം ശരീരമായി സങ്കല്പ്പിച്ച്, അതിൽ അരിയാകുന്ന മനസ്സ് തിളച്ച് അതിൻറെ അഹംബോധം നശിക്കുകയും, ശർക്കരയാകുന്ന പരമാനന്ദത്തിൽ ചേർന്ന് ആത്മസാക്ഷാത്കാരത്തിൻറെ പായസമായി മാറുന്നു എന്നാണ്.

Special Offerings
There are many items of offerings scheduled
in the temple. The devotees are free to have then choice according
their need.
Besides these "Kunjoonu" (Choroonu - first
rice feeding ceremony for children) Thulabharam, Vidyarambham, Archana
etc. can be done at this temple. The main offering of the Goddess viz.,
Muzhukkappu (Covering the idol with sandal paste) is booked until 2025
A.D. and the Kalabhabhishekam for the next five years. The devotees who
wish to conduct Ponkala/ Vazhipadu, can enter the Website and remit the
respective amount to the bankers of the Trust. The temple authorities
will conduct the Pooja/ Vazhipadu, as the case may be, and send the
prasadam by post.

ലോക പ്രശസ്തമായ ആറ്റുകാൽ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം കേരളത്തിന്റെ തെക്കേ അറ്റമായ തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. തിരുവനന്തപുരം നഗരത്തിൽ നിന്നും 2 കിലോമീറ്റർ തെക്കുമാറി ആറ്റുകാൽ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് കിള്ളിയാറിന്റെ തീരത്ത് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്ന പൊങ്കാല ലോക പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. പൊങ്കാല സമയത്ത് ക്ഷേത്രവും അതിനു പരിസരങ്ങളായ തിരുവനന്തപുരം നഗരവും ജനനിബിഡമാകാറുണ്ട്. അതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെ ലോകത്തിൽ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ സ്ത്രീകൾ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന ഈ ചടങ്ങ് ഗിന്നസ് ബുക്കിലും ഇടം നേടി. അതിനാൽ സ്ത്രീകളുടെ ശബരിമല എന്നാണ് ആറ്റുകാൽ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്.
--------------- ഐതിഹ്യം --------------------------
ആറ്റുകാൽ പ്രദേശത്തെ മുഖ്യ തറവാടായിരുന്നു മുല്ലവീട്ടിൽ തറവാട്. അവിടെത്തെ പരമസാത്വികനായിരുന്ന കാരണവർ ഒരിക്കൽ കിള്ളിയാറ്റിൽ കുളിക്കുമ്പോൾ ആറിന് അക്കരെ ഒരു ബാലിക പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു. ബാലിക തന്നെ അക്കരെ കടത്തിവിടാൻ കാരണവരോട് പറഞ്ഞു. അക്കരെ കടത്തിയ കാരണവർ ബാലികയെ സ്വന്തം വീട്ടിലേക്ക് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് പോയി. ബാലികയെ സ്വീകരിക്കാനുള്ള സജ്ജീകരണങ്ങൾക്കായി അകത്തേക്ക് പോയ കാരണവർ തിരികെ വരുമ്പോഴേക്കും ബാലിക അപ്രത്യക്ഷയായി. അന്ന് രാത്രിയിൽ കാരണവർക്ക് സ്വപ്നദർശനം ഉണ്ടായി. സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ ദേവി പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ട്, തന്നെ അടുത്തുള്ള കാവിൽ മൂന്ന് വര കാണുന്നിടത്ത് പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തി കുടിയിരുത്താൻ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. അപ്രകാരം രാവിലെ സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ ദർശനമുടായ സ്ഥലം കാണുകയും അവിടെ ക്ഷേത്രം പണിയുകയും ചെയ്തു. വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷം ക്ഷേത്രം പുതുക്കുകയും കൈകളിൽ ശൂലം, അസി, ഫലകം, കങ്കാളം എന്നിവ ധരിച്ച ചതുർബാഹുവായ ദേവിയെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരിലും ആറ്റുകാലിലും ഉള്ളത് ശ്രീപാർവ്വതിയുടെ അവതാരമായ കണ്ണകിയാണെന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം.

ആറ്റുകാലമ്മ പുരാതന ദ്രാവിഡ ദേവതയാണ്. ദ്രാവിഡരാണ് കൂടുതലും അമ്മദൈവങ്ങളെ ആരാധിച്ചിരുന്നത്. സിന്ധുനാഗരികതമുതൽ അതിനു തെളിവുകൾ ഉണ്ട്. ഭഗവതനെ വിഷ്ണുവുമായി ലയിപ്പിച്ചതിനു തുല്യമായി ഇത്തരം അമ്മദൈവങ്ങളെ ഭഗവതിയുമാക്കിത്തീർക്കുകയും ഈ പുരാതന ദ്രാവിഡ ദേവത പല പല പരിണാമങ്ങളിലൂടെ ഇന്നത്തെ ദേവിയായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്തു. പൊങ്കാലയിടുന്ന സവിശേഷമായ ആചാരം ആദിദ്രാവിഡ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ മാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളൂ.

പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ഭദ്രകാളി. ദാരുവിഗ്രഹമാണ്. വടക്കോട്ട് ദർശനം. നാലു പൂജയും ശീവേലിയുമുണ്ട്. തന്ത്രം കുഴിക്കാട്ട്.
കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ പൂരം നാളിലാണ് ചരിത്രപ്രസിദ്ധമായ ആറ്റുകാൽ പൊങ്കാല. പൊങ്കാലക്ക് എട്ട് ദിവസം മുൻപ്, അതായത് കാർത്തിക നാളിൽ ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ പത്താം ദിവസമായ ഉത്രം നാളിലാണ് അവസാനിക്കുന്നത്. അന്ന് മുതൽ ആറ്റുകാലിലും പരിസരപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും വഴിയോരകലാപ്രകടനങ്ങൾ വിവിധ സംഘടനകളുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ക്ഷേത്രം ട്രസ്റ്റിന്റെ കീഴിലും വിവിധ വേദികളിൽ അരങ്ങേറുന്നു. കണ്ണകീചരിതം പാടി ദേവിയെ കാപ്പുകെട്ടി കുടിയിരുത്തുന്നു. അതോടെ ആറ്റുകാൽ ഉത്സവത്തിന് തുടക്കമാകുന്നു. അതിനു പിന്നാലെ തോറ്റം പാട്ട് തുടങ്ങുന്നു. കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരമ്മയെ എഴുന്നള്ളിച്ച് ആറ്റുകാലിൽ എത്തിക്കുന്നത് മുതൽ പാണ്ഡ്യരാജാവിന്റെ നിഗ്രഹം വരെയുള്ള ഭാഗങ്ങൾ പൊങ്കാലയ്ക്ക് മുൻപായി പാടി തീർക്കുന്നു. അതിനുശേഷമാണ് പൊങ്കാല അടുപ്പിൽ തീ കത്തിക്കുന്നത്. പൊങ്കാല നിവേദ്യം, താലപ്പൊലി, കുത്തിയോട്ടം, പുറത്തെഴുന്നള്ളത്ത്, പാടി കാപ്പഴിക്കൽ, ഗുരുതിയോട് കൂടി ആറ്റുകാലിലെ ഉത്സവം സമാപിക്കുന്നു.

ദ്രാവിഡജനതയുടെ ദൈവാരാധനയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഒരു ആചാരമാണ് പൊങ്കാല. പൊങ്കാല ഒരു ആത്മസമർപ്പണമാണ്. അതിലുപരി അനേകം പുണ്യം നേടിത്തരുന്ന ഒന്നായിട്ടാണ് പൊങ്കാല കരുതിപ്പോരുന്നത്. പൊങ്കാല അർപ്പിച്ച് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചാൽ മനസ്സിനുള്ളിലെ ആഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ സാധിച്ച് തരും എന്നുള്ള ഉറപ്പുമാണ് പൊങ്കാലയിലേക്ക് സ്ത്രീജനങ്ങളെ ആകർഷിക്കുന്നത്. പൊങ്കാലയ്ക്ക് മുൻപ് ഒരാഴ്ചയെങ്കിലും വ്രതം നോറ്റിരിക്കണം. കൂടാതെ ദിവസത്തിൽ രണ്ടുനേരം കുളിച്ച്, മൽത്സ്യം, മുട്ട, മാംസം എന്നിവ വെടിഞ്ഞ് ഒരു തികഞ്ഞ സസ്യാഹാരം മാത്രം കഴിച്ച് മനഃശുദ്ധിയോടും ശരീര ശുദ്ധിയോടും കൂടി വേണം വ്രതം എടുക്കാൻ. അതിനു പുറമെ, പൊങ്കാലയുടെ തലേ ദിവസം ഒരിക്കൽെ മാത്രമേ ആഹാരം കഴിക്കാവൂ. (ഇന്ന് അത് മാറി ഒരു നേരം മാത്രമേ അരി ആഹാരം കഴിയ്ക്കാൻ പാടൂള്ളൂ എന്നായിട്ടുണ്ട്). പൊങ്കാലയ്ക്ക് മുൻപ് കഴിവതും ക്ഷേത്രദർശനം നടത്തുക. കാരണം പൊങ്കാല ഇടുവാൻ അനുവാദം ചോദിക്കുന്നതായിട്ടാണ് ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നത്. പൊങ്കാല അടുപ്പിന് സമീപം ഗണപതിയ്ക്ക് വയ്ക്കുക എന്ന ചടങ്ങുണ്ട്. തൂശനിലയിൽ അവിൽ, മലർ, വെറ്റില, പാക്ക്, പഴം, ശർക്കര, പൂവ്, ചന്ദനത്തിരി, നിലവിളക്ക്, നിറനാഴി, കിണ്ടിയിൽ വെള്ളം എന്നിവ വയ്ക്കണം. പുതിയ മൺകലത്തിലാണ് പൊങ്കാല ഇടേണ്ടത്. ഇത് കൊണ്ട് അർത്ഥമാക്കുന്നത്; പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിൻറെ പ്രതീകമായ മൺകലം ശരീരമായി സങ്കല്പ്പിച്ച്, അതിൽ അരിയാകുന്ന മനസ്സ് തിളച്ച് അതിൻറെ അഹംബോധം നശിക്കുകയും, ശർക്കരയാകുന്ന പരമാനന്ദത്തിൽ ചേർന്ന് ആത്മസാക്ഷാത്കാരത്തിൻറെ പായസമായി മാറുന്നു എന്നാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനു മുൻപിലുള്ള പണ്ഡാര (രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രതീകം) അടുപ്പിൽ തീ കത്തിച്ചതിനു ശേഷം മാത്രമേ മറ്റുള്ള അടുപ്പുകളിൽ തീ കത്തിക്കാൻ പാടുള്ളൂ. പൊങ്കാല അടുപ്പിൽ തീകത്തിച്ചതിനുശേഷം മാത്രമേ ജലപാനം പാടുള്ളൂ എന്നുമുണ്ട്. നിവേദ്യം തയാറായതിനു ശേഷം മാത്രമേ ആഹാരം കഴിക്കാവൂ. പൊങ്കാലയിൽ സാധാരണയഅയി വെള്ള ചോറ്, വെള്ളപായസം, ശർക്കര പായസം എന്നിവയും തെരളി (കുമ്പിളപ്പം), മണ്ടപ്പുട്ട് മുതലായവ നിവേദ്യം തയ്യാറായതിനു ശേഷവും ഉണ്ടാക്കാം. അതിനു ശേഷം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നും നിയോഗിക്കുന്ന പൂജാരികൾ തീർത്ഥം തളിക്കുന്നതോടെ പൊങ്കാല സമാപിക്കുന്നു.
താലപ്പൊലി
പൊങ്കാല ദിവസം തന്നെ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന മറ്റ് വഴിപാടുകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് താലപ്പൊലി. ഇത് കന്യകമാരാണ് നടത്തുന്നത്. വ്രതശുദ്ധിയോടുകൂടി കുളിച്ച് പുതിയ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ അണീഞ്ഞ് മാതാപിതാകളോടും മറ്റ് ബന്ധുക്കളോടും കൂടി ദേവിയുടെ എഴുന്നള്ളത്തിൻറെ കൂടെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നും 1.5 കി.മീറ്റർ ദൂരത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന മണക്കാട് ശ്രീധർമ്മശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നു. സർവൈശ്വര്യത്തിനായും രോഗബാധ അകറ്റാനും,സമ്പത്തും സൗന്ദര്യവും വർദ്ധിക്കാനും, ഭാവിയിൽ നല്ലൊരു വിവാഹജീവിതത്തിനായുമാണ് പെൺകുട്ടികൾ പ്രധാനമായും താലപ്പൊലി എടുക്കുന്നത്. ഒരു താലത്തിൽ ദീപം കത്തിച്ച്, ചുറ്റും കമുകിൻപൂക്കുല, പൂക്കൾ, അരി എന്നിവ നിറച്ച് തലയിൽ പൂക്കൾ കൊണ്ട് കിരീടവും അണിഞ്ഞാണ് താലപ്പൊലി എടുക്കുന്നത്.
ആറ്റുകാൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പൊങ്കാല, താലപ്പൊലി എന്നിവ പോലെ വളരെ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടാണ് ആൺകുട്ടികളുടെ കുത്തിയോട്ടം. ഇതിൽ പതിമൂന്ന് വയസ്സിൽ താഴെയുള്ള ആൺകുട്ടികൾക്കാണ് കുത്തിയോട്ടത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുവാൻ കഴിയുന്നത്. കാപ്പുകെട്ടി രണ്ടു ദിവസത്തിനു ശേഷമാണ് കുത്തിയോട്ടവ്രതം തുടങ്ങുന്നത്. മഹിഷാസുരനെ വധിച്ച യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ദേവിയുടെ മുറിവേറ്റ് ഭടൻമാരാണ് കുത്തിയോട്ടക്കാർ എന്നതാണ് സങ്കല്പം. കാപ്പ് കെട്ടി മൂന്നാം നാൾ മുതൽ വ്രതം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു. മേൽശാന്തിയുടെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നും പ്രസാദം വാങ്ങിയാണ് വ്രതത്തിൻറെ തുടക്കം. വ്രതം തുടങ്ങിയാൽ അന്ന് മുതൽ പൊങ്കാല ദിവസം വരെ കുട്ടികൾ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലാണ് കഴിയുന്നത്. അതിരാവിലെ 4:30 ന് ഉണർന്ന് കുളിച്ച് ഈറനണിഞ്ഞ് ദേവീചിന്തയോടെ ഏഴു ദിവസം കൊണ്ട് 1008 തവണ പ്രദക്ഷിണം വയ്ക്കുന്നു. എല്ലാ വ്രതങ്ങളും പോലെ മൽസ്യ-മാംസാദികൾ കൂടാതെ ചായ, കാപ്പി എന്നിവയും കുത്തിയോട്ട ബാലന്മാർക്ക് നൽകാറില്ല. രാവിലെ കഞ്ഞി, ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് വിഭവ സമൃദ്ധമായ സദ്യ, രാത്രിയിൽ അവിലും പഴവും കരിക്കിൻ വെള്ളവുമാണ് വ്രതക്കാരുടെ ഭക്ഷണക്രമം. പൊങ്കാല കഴിയുന്നതുവരെ വീട്ടിൽ നിന്നോ മറ്റ് സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നോ വ്രതക്കാർക്ക് ഒന്നും തന്നെ നൽകില്ല. മാത്രവുമല്ല അവരെ തൊടാൻ പോലും ആർക്കും അവകാവും ഊണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നതല്ല. പൊങ്കാല ദിവസം നൈവേദ്യം കഴിയുന്നതോട് കൂടി ദേവിയുടെ മുൻപിൽ വച്ച് എല്ലാവരുടേയും വാരിയെല്ലിനു താഴെ ചൂരൽ കുത്തുന്നു. വെള്ളിയിൽ തീർത്ത നൂലുകളാണ് ചൂരലായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്. അതിനുശേഷം നല്ലതുപോലെ അണിയിച്ചൊരുക്കി മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ കൂടെ എഴുനള്ളത്തിന് അകമ്പടിക്കായി വിടുന്നു.

*ആഹാരത്തിനെന്തൊക്കെ നിയന്ത്രണം വേണം?*
ഭക്തിയോടെ എപ്പോഴും അമ്മയെ പ്രാർഥിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നാൽ ആഹാരം കഴിക്കണമെന്നുതന്നെ തോന്നില്ല. ക്ഷീണവും വരില്ല, ദൃഢമായ ഭക്തിയോടെ അമ്മ കൂടെയുണ്ടെന്ന് വിശ്വസിച്ച് ഒരുനേരം അരിയാഹാരം കഴിച്ച് ബാക്കി സമയം വിശന്നാൽ ഫലവർഗ്ഗങ്ങള് കഴിച്ചു വ്രതമെടുക്കണം. മത്സ്യമാംസവും ലഹരി പദാർഥങ്ങളും പൂർണ്ണമായും ത്യജിക്കണം. ബ്രഹ്മചര്യം അനുഷ്ഠിക്കണം. ദേവി സ്തോത്രനാമാദികൾ ചൊല്ലുകയും ക്ഷേത്രദർശനം നടത്തുന്നതും നല്ലതാണ്.
