Khajuraho Temples - India's unique gift of love to the world
The Khajuraho Monuments (खजुराहो) are one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. Khajuraho has the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples, famous for their erotic sculpture. Khajuraho is a town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, located in Chhatarpur District, about 620 kilometres (385 mi) southeast of New Delhi. Khajuraho is a fascinating village with a quaint rural ambiance and a rich cultural heritage. The fascinating temples of Khajuraho, India's unique gift of love to the world, represent the expression of a highly matured civilization. In the 27th century of the Kali yuga, the Mlechcha invaders started attacking North India. Some Bargujar Rajputs moved eastward to central India; they ruled over the Northeastern region of Rajasthan, called Dhundhar, and were referred to as Dhundhel or Dhundhela in ancient times, for the region they governed. Later on they called themselves Bundelas and Chandelas; those who were in the ruling class having gotra Kashyap were definitely all Bargujars; they were vassals of Gurjara - Pratihara empire of North India, which lasted from 500 C.E. to 1300 C.E. and at its peak the major monuments were built. The Bargujars also built the Kalinjar fort and Neelkanth Mahadev temple, similar to one at Sariska National Park, and Baroli, being Shiva worshippers.
The city was the cultural capital of Chandela Rajputs, a Hindu dynasty that ruled this part of India from the 10-12th centuries. The political capital of the Chandelas was Kalinjar. The Khajuraho temples were built over a span of 200 years, from 950 to 1150. The Chandela capital was moved to Mahoba after this time, but Khajuraho continued to flourish for some time. Khajuraho has no forts because the Chandel Kings never lived in their cultural capital.
The whole area was enclosed by a wall with eight gates, each flanked by two golden palm trees. There were originally over 80 Hindu temples, of which only 25 now stand in a reasonable state of preservation, scattered over an area of about 20 square kilometres (8 sq mi).
Today, the temples serve as fine examples of Indian architectural styles that have gained popularity due to their explicit depiction of sexual life during medieval times. Locals living in the Khajuraho village always knew about and kept up the temples as best as they could. They were pointed out to an Englishman in late 19th century but the jungles had taken a toll on all the monuments.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar now become Group Captain of Indian Air Force
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has been conferred the rank of Group Captain by the Indian Air Force. Sachin joined the Indian Air Force (IAF) with the rank of Honorary Group Captain on Friday. The honorary rank was conferred on Sachin under the provision of granting honorary rank by armed forces to eminent personalities acknowledging their contribution towards the nation.
The honour to one of India’s greatest batsman came in recognition of his glorious achievements as a cricketer and sports icon par excellence.
After receiving the honour the batting legend said “It is indeed a great honour that I have been considered for honorary Group Captain in the IAF. As an Indian I am proud to be associated with the dynamic force and I shall do my very best to be brand ambassador for the force”. He wishes to fly a Sukhoi-30MKI.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal PV Naik, said that Sachin would soon be flying sorties in Su-30MKI, and added that it depends on the master blaster to make himself available for this purpose. IAF feels that besides the recognition, his association with it would motivate the younger generation to join the air force to serve the country.
The master blaster Sachin Tendulkar conferred with IAF's honorary rank of Group Captain. "It's like a dream come true...I always wanted to fly", says Sachin Tendulkar.

ഓണാശംസകള് - Happy Onam 2010
ഓണാശംസകള്.
Thiru Onam is celebrated in the second half of August ( the Chingam month of Kollam Era) when the August monsoon rains come to an end and the summer heat gives way to the pleasant warmth of the Kerala autumn. Anthropologists see in Onam a great fertility rite, the ceremony of Thanksgiving for a plentiful harvest. For Keralites Onam is the celebration of the return of Mahabali, their once beloved king.
Onam or Thiruonam originated as a joyous annual reminiscence of the golden rule of King Mahabali, a mythical king, who ruled Kerala a very long time ago. It recalls the sacrifice of the great king, his true devotion to God, his human pride and his ultimate redemption. This king once ruled over the Keralites during the Golden Age before caste existed, "when all men were equal, when no one was poor, when there was neither theft nor dread of thieves" (Maveli natu vanitum kalam... Manusharellam onnu pole ... ).

Be Proud to be an Indian on the occassion of 64th Independence Day and always
Be Proud to be an Indian on the occassion of 64th Independence Day and always
Today is the celebration ceremony of 64th Independence Day of India. I am a proud Indian; I love my country and the freedom fighters who gave their lives.
Freedom is not free, so knowing what it costs to be an independent is always more valuable before we enjoy the freedom. Also while being aware of true meaning of freedom, one might also think about his own growth in country’s perspective, not just individually. Fighting for things like religion, casts, reservation has always put India backwards in front of the whole world. In the end it results nothing more than lowering our own strength and unity. Coming together in the name of nation to celebrate a day like today includes more unity in India.
