Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar now become Group Captain of Indian Air Force

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has been conferred the rank of Group Captain by the Indian Air Force. Sachin joined the Indian Air Force (IAF) with the rank of Honorary Group Captain on Friday. The honorary rank was conferred on Sachin under the provision of granting honorary rank by armed forces to eminent personalities acknowledging their contribution towards the nation.

The honour to one of India’s greatest batsman came in recognition of his glorious achievements as a cricketer and sports icon par excellence.

After receiving the honour the batting legend said “It is indeed a great honour that I have been considered for honorary Group Captain in the IAF. As an Indian I am proud to be associated with the dynamic force and I shall do my very best to be brand ambassador for the force”. He wishes to fly a Sukhoi-30MKI.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal PV Naik, said that Sachin would soon be flying sorties in Su-30MKI, and added that it depends on the master blaster to make himself available for this purpose. IAF feels that besides the recognition, his association with it would motivate the younger generation to join the air force to serve the country.
