The Commissioner of Entrance Examination Kerala invited APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS [MCA] COURSES 2011-2012, KERALA. Online Application form and other will be available at www.cee.kerala.gov.in
Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a Programme of three years duration consisting of six semesters. This course is intended to train graduates in Engineering, Science or Commerce with Mathematics as one of the subjects in development and use of software for different applications. The major thrust is on giving the students a sound background in computing, business functions and Mathematics relevant to Information Technology.
To apply online you must upload a passport size photo in jpg or gif format less than 50 kb of size. The photo should be in jpg or gif format and dimensions of 150 pixels (Width) X 200 pixels (Height). The face of the Candidates should be distinctly visible, straight and at the centre. The photo uploaded here should be used in the printed form.
CATEGORISATION OF SEATS:
The seats available are mainly categorized as Government, Management and Lapsed seats.
(a) Government seats are those seats against which allotment will be made by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) based on the rank list published by him.
(b) Management seats are those seats set apart in Aided / Self financing institutions to be filled up by the Management concerned on the basis of the Supreme Court direction and Government Orders in this behalf.
(c) Lapsed seats are those seats that may be filled up by the institution itself when the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations intimates that he would not be allotting any more candidates against such seats.
FEE STRUCTURE:
The fee structure in the above categories of seats will be announced before the allotment process.
(a) No fees will be refunded after the last date of closing of admission.
(b) The claim for refund should be made within thirty days from the last date of closing of admissions.
(c) If any candidate discontinues/leaves the institution after the closing of admissions in the same year or in subsequent years to join other courses or for other purpose he/she is liable to pay liquidated damage of Rs.30000/-(Rs, Thirty thousand only). Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OEC are exempted from payment of such liquidated damage.
(d) Institutional transfers in the second year will be done by the Universities concerned and for such transfers the candidates are exempted from payment of liquidated damages.
ELIGIBILTY FOR ADMISSION:
(a) Nativity: The candidates must be Indian Citizens. Certificate from a Village Officer or a competent authority to show that the candidate is a native of any State or Union Territory of India should be furnished in the body of the application form itself.
(b) Academic Eligibility:
1. Colleges affiliated MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY and KANNUR UNIVERSITY
A pass in any recognized regular Bachelor’s Degree course of minimum three years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 level.
OR
A pass in any recognized Regular Bachelors Degree course of minimum three years duration in any discipline with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the Subjects
OR
A pass in BCA Degree of minimum three years duration from a recognized University
2. Colleges affiliated to UNIVERSITY of KERALA
Candidates should have passed Bachelors Degree of minimum three years duration after 10+2 level with a minimum of 50% marks in the subject component(s) in any discipline with Mathematics/Statistics/ComputerScience/ComputerApplication/Engineering and Technology as a Main/Subsidiary/Core subject.
3. Colleges affiliated to UNIVERSITY of CALICUT
Bachelors Degree in any discipline of 3 year duration with mathematics (this does not include Business Mathematics or Business Statistics) as one of the subjects with at least 50% marks scored in mathematics and the course undergone under the regular programme recognized by the Calicut University. 5% of relaxation in marks will be allowed in the case of SEBC candidates and for SC/ST candidates pass in examination is required.
Note:
1. Candidate seeking admission to the course should be qualified from any University in Kerala or of any other Universities, recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala as equivalent thereto.
2. Final year regular Bachelor’s Degree students are also permitted to appear for the Entrance Examination subject to the condition that the entire mark lists of all parts of the qualifying examination shall be produced by the candidate at the time of allotment.
HOW TO APPLY:
Application forms for appearing in the Entrance Examination - Candidates seeking admission to the course can apply online through the website www.cee-kerala.org of the commissioner for Entrance Examinations. There will be separate link for General, SEBC, (Socially and Educationally Backward Community) and SC/ST candidates. Application fee for General Candidates and SEBC candidate is Rs.800/- (Eight hundred only )and in the case of SC/ST candidates and those eligible for SC/ST benefits as per G.O. (MS) No.25/05/SCSTDD dated 22.06.2005 is. Rs.400/- (Four Hundred only). The required fee can be remitted at a designated bank using the Bank Chalan which is available in the Online application print out.
Application fee once remitted will not be refunded at any cost. The prospectus can be downloaded from the website. The application forms and the prospectus will not be available from the colleges and from the office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.
All candidates should take a printout of the application and submit to the Commissioner for entrance Examinations with all necessary documents on or before the last date specified.
ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:
Entrance examination will be conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations for the selection of candidates for admission to MCA Course. All candidates who are eligible for admission will be allowed to appear for the Entrance Examination. The Entrance Examination will be of 2 hours duration and will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode.
a) The question for the Entrance Examination will cover Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, General Knowledge, General English and Fundamentals of Computer awareness at Graduate level. The number of questions from each of the above areas will be 20 except the last. For fundamentals of Computer Awareness, there will be 30 questions.
b) Answer sheets (OMR Answer sheets) will be given to mark the answers. All entries in the OMR Answer sheet including the filling of bubbles should be done by using ball point pen only (blue or black)
c) All questions will be of objective type and will be given in the format of a Question Booklet. Each answer with correct response shall be awarded three marks. One mark 8 will be deducted for each incorrect response and zero mark for the questions not answered. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be given negative marks.
d) The Question Booklet issued to candidates should be returned along with the OMR Answer Sheet to the Invigilator on completion of the Examination.
e) In the case of tie in the total marks in the Entrance Examination, the candidates scoring higher marks in the section 'Fundamentals of Computer Awareness' in the Entrance Examination will be placed higher in the rank. If the tie still exists, the candidate having higher age will be given preference.
f) Publication of Results- The rank list for admission to the course will be published on the basis of the total marks secured by the candidates for the Entrance Examination.
g) Publication of Category Lists- Separate category–wise lists will be published for SEBC/SC/ST Reservation and Person with Disability. Candidates are advised to verify the category list published by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations and satisfy themselves regarding their position in the list. If candidates have any complaint in this regard he/she may approach the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations within notified time after publication of the category list, for necessary action. Complaints received thereafter will not be entertained.
Warning: Any malpractice or attempt to commit any kind of malpractice in the examination will result in the summary disqualification of the candidate.
Kerala MCA Entrance Examination
Kerala MCA entrance exam is conducted for the selection of qualified candidates in the University of Kerala Master of Computer Applications Programme. The period of the course is 3 years. The course is proposed to train the students in subjects involving development and use of software for different applications. Those who clear the exam will be admitted in institution after a personal interview. The University of Kerala MCA program is also recognized by AICTE.
Structure and Pattern of the Kerala MCA entrance exam
The entrance exam comprises of 150 Objective Type Questions. The candidates should be well versed in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics in the graduate level. In addition, the candidates should have comprehensive knowledge in General English, General Knowledge, and Fundamentals of Computer awareness. Usually, the entrance test is conducted at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Calicut.
Qualification Criteria for Kerala MCA entrance exam
There are some criteria which need to be fulfilled to appear for the entrance exam. The candidate should be a graduate from a recognized University in any discipline. Also, he needs to have acquired 50% in the core subjects. In addition, the candidate should have learned Mathematics in +2 level or in graduation. Those who have passed the 3 year BCA Degree from a recognized University is also eligible for applying for the entrance test. The aspirants who are appearing the final year of qualifying examination can also apply for the test.
Application Procedure for Kerala MCA entrance exam
The candidates can apply online and offline for the entrance exam. For applying online, the candidates, who are inhabitants of Kerala, can remit the exam fees by the way of Challan from any SBT branch. The non – residents can pay the fees by taking a DD from any nationalized banks in favor of Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Thiruvananthapuram. With the Challan / DD number, the candidates can apply online in the University’s Official website. Those who are applying offline can receive the application form directly in person.

Click on the Apply On-line Link. It takes you to another page in
which you need to do the following:-
Examination Center :- Click on the box next to the ‘Centre of
Examination’ where a list is available. Select any one of it.
Upload Your Photo – Click on the browse button and Upload
your photograph. Photograph should be a GIF file or JPG file with
size less than 50 Kb.
After completing the above Click on the Continue button to
complete the application form & taking the print-out.
When you Click the Continue button, Application form will be
available to you. Fill the fields care fully. Please follow the
instructions below:-
1. For giving the name, move mouse pointer to the box provided
and click on it. Type the Name in Capital letters with only
alphabets and space.
2. Move mouse pointer to the arrow in the ‘select box’ next to
label ‘Sex’. Click on it, will display the available values. Move
Mouse pointer to the required value and Click.
3. For giving the Land Number Move Mouse pointer to the box
provided for STD Code and type the STD Code then move to
next box and type the Land Phone Number. For Mobile, also
move pointer to the mobile box and click. Then Type the
number.
4. You can select the Date of Birth by clicking the button on the
right side of the box. You can also type the Date of Birth in the
corresponding box. The date should be in dd/mm/yyyy format.
5. Postal address has to be filled in 5 boxes provided for the
purpose. You must enter the PIN code. Each box can be filled
by moving the mouse pointer to the box and Click.
6. E-mail id to be filled in the box by clicking on it. Only Valid Email
id characters will be allowed.
7. Click on the radio button provided to enter your nativity.
8. Enter name of parent / guardian and his / her occupation in
the corresponding text boxes.
9. Enter name of mother on the next text box.
10. Then click on the combo box to select the category and enter
the community name on the nearby text box.
11. Click on the radio button provided to enter if you are an OEC
candidate. If yes, enter the community name on near by text
box.
12. Click on the radio button provided to enter if you are son or
daughter of an inter-caste marriage couple. If you click on
‘YES’, there appear four text boxes which is religion and
community of father and mother which are mandatory.
13. Click on the radio button provided to enter if you are a PWD
candidate.
14. Click on the Qualifying Examination Box and type the
Examination Name, Click on the Subject Box and Type the
Subject of Qualifying Exam. Click on the status combo box to
enter type exam status. Click on the Register No. box to enter
register no of Qualifying Examination .Click on the Year box
and type the Year of appearance Qualifying
Examination(Only Valid month/year).
15. Click on the Name of University Box and type the Name of
the University from which you passed the Qualifying Exam.
16. Click on the check boxes situated near Academic Eligibility
to enter the eligibility.
Please Check the details filled. If found Ok, Please Click on the
box near to I Agree and type the code shown in the box in the
empty box shown. Please make sure that all the items marked with
“ * ” are compulsory and must be filled.
Click on the Submit button to submit the application form. If any
information is missing or anything to be modified those items will
be displayed in red colour. Those items need to be
modified/entered and submit the form again by click on the
Submit button. Once every thing is successful, it takes you to
another page for the confirmation of submit. Once the confirmation
is done
Application Number will be displayed – Please note down the
application Number
Link will be appeared for printing the application form. Application
form can be printed by click on the links. Please make sure that all
the forms are printed. One Chlan form also will be printed, which is
to be submitted in the bank for the payment of fees. Fee can be
paid in any one of the SBT branches listed.
Before Sending the application form by post to office of the
CEE do the following.
(1) Affix the photo graph on the application form
(2) Fill the receipt number in the form
(3) Put the signature on the form
